Build Muscle and Drop Body Fat by Eating Clean

Posted by admin on July 11th, 2010

Let me first say that we’re not talking about getting shredded for the stage when you’re a few weeks out from a bodybuilding competition; that’s a different ball game altogether. What we’re talking about is dropping your body fat to a healthy level to where you can see the muscle that you have. You want to see some striations and you want to be ripped to some extent. You certainly don’t want to be one of those weight lifters, strong or not, with a gut hanging over your pants. Your diet is the key element that will separate you from them.

To build muscle and to get stronger you need plenty of quality protein. Anywhere from one gram to one and a half grams of protein per day per pound of bodyweight is a good rule to stick with. I’m not going to argue the low carb versus no carbs versus high carbs and so forth. It’s not so much the carbohydrates, it’s how much and the types of carbs you’re putting into your body. A solid plan to follow is a one to one ratio of protein and carbs. So if you eat a meal with 45 grams of protein, you shouldn’t have any more than 45 grams of carbs. The types of carbs should not be filled with sugar or from processed foods. They should come from sources such as whole grain foods, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, brown rice, fruits, and vegetables.

You also need healthy fats. Egg yolks, almonds and other types of nuts, olive oil and flaxseed oil are a few examples. The important thing to remember is to stay away from trans fats and don’t get too much saturated fat in your diet. For the sake of simplicity, take in a little fat each meal and supplement with flaxseed or fish oil. A good example is if you’re eating eggs, cook six to eight egg whites and one or two whole eggs. I use eggs as an example because whole eggs are loaded with vitamins, nutrients and amino acids.

Obviously training intense with heavy weights reaching muscle overload is a no-brainer for building muscle. Cardio training comes into play as well. This diet portion is imperative though if you want to grow and drop body fat at the same time. I personally have started eating chicken breasts (2 at a time), tilapia fillets (2 at a time), eggs, milk and protein shakes for my sources of protein and have not let my carb intake go too far over my protein intake, getting those from the carb sources listed above. I usually get enough healthy fats from whole eggs, milk, peanut butter and I also supplement with flaxseed oil. I was in fear of my strength going down but I’ve actually gotten stronger and leaner over the past couple of weeks while implementing this meal plan. As for cheat meals, save them for the weekend, or just pick one or two days a week to have a meal or two that may not necessarily fall into the diet plan, such as pizza; my personal favorite.

Well,this is the second time that I want to talk something about sex toys.In my point of view,many people may know something about them.However,some people have not tried them.Ok,I am going to share one of my experience with you in the following words.

My best friend,Alex,is 20 years old now.He is very tall and strong.I think many girls will be interested in him.Collecting the pictures of sexy girls is one of his hobbies.And watching the porn videos takes him about 2 hours every day!Well,I do not mean that he is wrong.I just wonder how he can get so many materials! The memory of his computer is 60G,but 60 percent of it is the files about porn.

However,he says that he has never tried the adult toys.That is why he is busy in searching the information about  sextoys  these days.In fact,it is not a difficult task at all because we can get a lot of information about them through internet.Well,as Alex is not good at computer,he has to ask me to help him.

Ok,that is all.I am really very tired now.

Compulsive Hoarder

Posted by admin on July 8th, 2010

Hoarding is a serious disorder and has nothing at all to do with people who collect stamps or coins, or other so called ‘collectibles’. Also, for the avoidance of doubt, hoarding does not relate to people who collect things such as spare parts in order to build a car or some other complex item. Those that suffer from the compulsion to hoard have severe difficulty in discarding anything at all, including empty food packaging, old newspapers, and opened or unopened post; generally speaking, all the sorts of things that other people would consider to be useless rubbish. Old clothing, (including worn out shoes in need of repair), and out of date magazines are some of the most common ‘hoardables’, and the thing that makes hoarders hang on to their clutter, is the suspicion that one day these things may come in useful.

The act of dithering becomes so pronounced that decisions are never made to throw anything away. The fear of unknowingly or mistakenly discarding something that may possible prove useful at some time in the future becomes irresistible, and the clutter begins to grow and grow. This ‘fetish’ for not making errors, merely serves to slow down many of what ‘normal’ people would consider to be routine tasks and chores; such as doing the washing up, or the ironing. In the end, many of the day to day activities get irrevocably postponed and never get done, and as the clutter builds, so the problems build with it.

The sad fact of the matter is that hoarders become emotionally attached to their clutter, which makes it even harder to even begin to consider discarding it. The reasons for holding onto clutter are very tenuous in the beginning, but as time develops and the hoarding compulsion takes a greater hold, there is absolutely no rhyme or reason for hanging on to the items they refuse to let go of.

Ultimately, the home starts to become hopelessly overtaken and crowded with the ever growing amount of clutter. Floors, tables, chairs and even beds become places for amassing clutter, to the point that those objects are no longer capable of fulfilling their proper function, because they have become totally obscured.

The normal everyday functioning of hoarders also becomes impaired. This is because, in pursuit of their longing for perfection, and due to their uncertainty in dealing with decisions, even the most simple of routine tasks takes that much longer to complete. Typically, a hoarder may simply moves parts of his or her clutter from one pile to the next in their indecision, as this postpones making the ultimate decision on whether or not to discard any particular item. This clutter does of course constitute a health hazard from possible trips or falls as well as the unsanitary risks, and of course it also poses a very real fire hazard.

It is also extremely common for compulsive hoarders to have little or no social life. Because they are afraid to let anyone into their homes to witness the mess and chaos, they become socially self-segregated and isolated. This behaviour and its repercussions often continues for many years. Many hoarders have full time employment, although if quizzed about their job, will often express dissatisfaction, and will feel that they are not being fully extended and that their skills are being wasted. It is quite normal for them to start work earlier than their colleagues, and to finish later, on account of the fact that it takes them longer than it should to complete their tasks.

This sluggishness and indecisiveness means that hoarders need a special approach when it comes down to administering corrective therapy. It is one of the main reasons that compulsive hoarding is now being treated by many professionals as a distinct OCD category in itself, and a particular type of OCD that warrants its own special treatment techniques.

Zeitgeist

Although many of these theories and perspectives were the work of experimental research psychologists, they were clearly influential among clinical psychologists as well. These days, clinical training for psychologists is often weighted toward Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a popular therapeutic approach to treating anxiety disorders, depression, and a wide range of issues that bring people to therapy. What is CBT?

CBT is an umbrella term encompassing a wide range of approaches, including Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Rational Behavior Therapy, Rational Living Therapy, Schema Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. According to the National Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists, these techniques share the following characteristics:

  • they are based on the idea that our THOUGHTS cause our feelings and behaviors;
  • they are brief in number - the average number of sessions is 16;
  • the relationship with the therapist is not the focus
  • CBT is seen as a collaboration between the therapist and client;
  • CBT relies on a Socratic method, and is very structured and directive; and
  • homework is an important part of CBT.

It is easy to understand why this approach might be appealing to people seeking therapy; the idea that you might only need to see someone 16 times and your problems are fixed is undeniably appealing! However, it’s important to look more closely at these approaches, and evaluate them carefully.

In the March 2010 edition of the APA Monitor, the monthly professional magazine of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Jonathan Shedler reported the results of an important meta-analysis. Meta-analysis is a statistical technique that allows researchers to combine the results of a large number of studies in order to understand the degree to which an effect is important. Individual studies can be informative, but meta-analyses tell researchers just how large or important an effect is, regardless of how it was measured or reported in any individual article.

As reported in the Monitor, Shedler wrote:

Psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses self-reflection and self-examination to get at the root of suffering, is at least as effective as symptom-oriented treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy or psychoactive medication, according to a January review of meta-analyses by Jonathan Shedler, PhD, a psychologist at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine (American Psychologist, Vol. 65, No. 2). According to one major meta-analysis, Shedler says, psychodynamic psychotherapy was about three times more effective per treatment than the most popular antidepressant medication. The benefits of psychodynamic psychotherapy seem to persist and even grow larger over time, he says.

Of course, other psychologists have reported similar criticisms of CBT; this wikipedia page offers a starting point if you want to investigate further.

In my view, lasting change of an important type cannot come from such goal-directed, externally-driven exercises. CBT relies on a logical and linear system, and in my experience, people in fact act globally and their actions represent the final common pathway that grows out of a gestalt of their drives, desires, needs, and unconscious and conscious processes. True change arises from an appreciation of complexity. Lasting change involves integration of different aspects of your personality, of understanding why you do things, of unfolding and deepening your understanding of yourself. Effective work with a good therapist involves facilitating change, not directing it.
