Be Careful About Kidney Stones

Posted by admin on September 14th, 2009

Q:What is the meaning of  kidney stones?

A:Before we can delve into the causes for the formation of kidney stones in men, let us look at, what is a kidney stone. Formed within the kidney or the urinary tract, kidney stones are hard, crystalline mineral material. The occurrence of these stones, also referred to as nephrolithiasis, is one of the most common disorders of the urinary tract, affecting nearly 10% of Americans at some point in their lives. While typically all adults over the age of 30 are at risk, men tend to be affected more frequently than women especially, when they reach their 40s. To understand how these stones are formed in our body, we have to understand the basic working of the urinary tract.

The kidneys are bean shaped organs located below the ribs. The main function of these organs is to remove extra water and wastes from the blood, producing urine and also keep a stable balance of salts and other substances in the blood. While most of the kidney stones are passed out of the body in the urine stream, the stones which are sufficiently larger in size can cause obstruction to the ureter thus causing extreme pain. The stones in the kidneys are the result of certain chemicals in the kidneys, forming crystals and bonding together. Although there are many chemical compounds that can form stones in the urinary tract, the most common type of kidney stones in men contains calcium with oxalate or phosphate and uric acid.

Q:What is the meaning of Biological Clock?

A:The biological clock ticks for men as well as women, doctors warn today, after research found that male fertility begins to decline when they reach their mid-30s.

Q:Could you tell us more about the research?

A:Yes.Researchers examined patient records of more than 12,000 couples treated at a fertility clinic in Paris, and separated out the influence of male and female ages on the couples’ chances of having a baby.

They found that women whose partners were 35 or older had more miscarriages than those who were with younger men, regardless of their own age. The men’s ages also affected pregnancy rates, which were lower in the over-40s.

Doctors have long known that a woman’s fertility drops sharply in her mid to late 30s, but the effect of age on male fertility is less well understood. Among women, miscarriage rates typically double to 40% between the ages of 20 and 40. Read the rest of this entry »

Q:what is the definition of depression?

A:Depression is a malevolent disease that affects around 10% of women and 3 to 5% of men worldwide. While there is no clinical classification that separates male depression from female depression, clinicians have reason to believe that depression in men may take a different curve from the way women face depression.

     Content:

Clinicians have discovered that males react to depression in a different way from females. Depression in men is manifested with more dominance in certain symptoms, as opposed to the symptoms that women experience.

Men experience depression with more aggression than women. Men are more prone to irritability and sudden anger. Women, on the other hand, are more prone to show depression by lethargy and a feeling of low self-worth. Males are also more prone to showing greater risk-taking behavior, more aggression, and are more likely to manifest a loss of self-control. Read the rest of this entry »

Losing weight is not the work of women, but it is also true for men…

Carrying excess weight is an unhealthy proposition for anybody. The factors for diseases like type II diabetes, stroke, heart disease and a host of others increase as the body increases its weight. It’s enough of a concern that doctors routinely are advising their patients to loose weight. Left unchecked, weight can become the primary driver behind poor health, and there is no more obvious indicator of weight gain in men than belly fat.

     Fat and Our Body

No one will argue that the body needs a certain amount of fat. It’s when the fat is too much for our frame that problems begin to occur. Belly fat in men begins when the caloric intake of food exceeds the body’s ability to burn the calories off. These excess calories are converted to fat and stored until the body needs the energy. The problem that most of our body’s run into is that the time for the fats use never comes. Read the rest of this entry »
